MED357 Plastic Surgery and Climical Clerkship Plastic surgery is a specialized branch of surgery concerned with the repair of deformities and the correction of functional deficits. Besides dasic field-wound heaing scar,alloplastic implant,it consists of bums, pressure dores, maxillofacial injury. congenital maxillofacial anomalies-clefrt lip &cosmetic surgery, and hand surgery. Recently we have become concened with alloplastic implants, microvascular surgery, maxillofacial reconstuctive surgery,and abdomen &body contouring surgery.In Polyclinic ,students are required to apply the concepts of clinical medicine that they have learned in lecture to simulated clinical situations.We teach the process of diagno-sis - including topics such as attitude toward patients, history taking , physical examina-tion , special test/treatmant ,plan method of treatment (operation) and construction for prognosis. In the emergency room and operating room , studends are taught by resi-dents or professors, during which time they apply their skills and are evaluated.
