This course aims to cultivate among students the comprehensive understanding of science and technology in modern society, employing philosophical methods and concepts. To do this, the course offers a survey of some important theoretical results recently obtained in science and technology studies. We will carefully examime a number of concrete case-studies, ranging from the electrification of America, quantum revolution to the introduction of western science to traditional Korea. We will then discuss the intrinsic nature of modern science and technology as well as its socio-cultural aspects in the context of modern society. Students who take the course shall appreciate how modern science and technology from the nineteenth century has come to manifest a number of unique characteristics, which can be clearly distinguished from the science and technology of even, the eighteenth century. We will discuss in the class the significance of this difference. The course will also highlights the importance of dialogue between experts with different background and encourage more interactions between humanities and natural sciences, so that we can make well-informed and reasonable decisions concerning complicated issues which are so common in our multi-layered society.

As the advent of mankind was interpreted with the concept of culture, we, in this Age of Globalization, still do not understand well enough about the diversity and characteristics of different cultures. In this class, we will define culture as an adaptive system of humans, and will take an overview on those divers adaptive systems following the time. This class aims to offer, first of all, basic tools of interpretation on Anthropology which uses holistic approach to understand life patterns of human groups. Perception frames and basic knowledge for different cultures of the World will also contribute, with humanities education in general, to build global citizens of the future. Lectures will be offered by professors who are specialized on various cultural regions and area. Students also have many occasions to participate via their presentations and commentaries, especially related with their own experiences of travel, or residence in 'other cultures' from Korean culture. This lecture deals with understanding linguistic rules, orthographic rules, and pronunciations that are used in the family, workplace and society in general. According to this rule, we can analyze usage of the Korean language and recognize the necessity and importance of standard Korean in terms of writing and speaking, appreciate problems of foreign language application, a campaign to refine the Korean language. The linguistic ability of students should be improved.

The lecture is designed to understand the origin and characteristic of Korean cultures by observing various cultural phenomenon related to folk customs. and to apply this to find new interpretation. Studying in traditional arts and literature such as a folktale, folk song, mask drama, pansory(Korean traditional opera in Chos n dynasty), and the field-working.

The aim this course is provide student with the fundermental foundation required for literary approaches. Students study poetry theories, relation between poetry and language, and rhythm, image, allegory and symbolization in poetry text. Through analyzing poems paid special attention in korean literacy history, they will acquire comprehensive capability for much better understanding of poetry.

The Lecture on Korean Grammatical Structure Design of the Lecture This lecture is divided into two main areas. One is the morphology and the other is the syntax. Therefore the morphology and the syntax of the current Korean language is dealt in this lecture. Morphological and syntactical researches and studies have been concentrated on the questions of the structure. Thus the structural units - morphemes, words, phrases, and sentences are the main themes of these areas. But in this lecture, we will be interested in the practical usage of the Korean, and deal with the usage as well as the structure of the Korean language. Goals of the lecture The goals of this lecture is that the students can (1) understand, (2) analyze, and (3) describe the grammatical units and structure of the current Korean language efficiently.
