Hanyang University hosts the International Conference on Appropriate Technology

  The Ministry of Science and Technology will hold the 2018 International Conference on Appropriate Technology under the theme of 'Science & Technology for Engagement and Sharing' at Hanyang University Seoul Campus in Seongdong-gu, Seoul from the 23rd to the 24th. The conference will begin with the keynote speech of former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The conference will discuss the changing of international development cooperation for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of science and technology.

  Appropriate technology is defined as technologies that can be judged to be the most appropriate in a specific period or region in order to solve various problems in developing countries. For an in-depth discussion, the Academic Society for Appropriate Technology, the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), the Global Network for Sharing Appropriate Technology (GNSAT), and academic experts will gather and hold presentations and discussions by session. Appropriate technological products and poster exhibitions will also be displayed.

  Presentations and discussions by session will proceed on the subjects as follows.▲ Appropriate Technology‧Science Centers ▲ Water‧environments ▲ utilizing senior scientists ▲Finding solutions for local problems and its development▲ Health‧medicine ▲ Education‧policies ▲ Sanitary‧environments ▲ Sharing Accomplishments of ICT ODA.

  A conference official has stated, "I hope this conference will serve as a venue to think about the meaning and role of appropriate technology for sustainable development in developing countries and to seek advice and wisdom from academic scholars.”
