Introduction

Education is the process of human formation, and humans form a desirable personality through education which achieves happiness. The Department of Education explores educational phenomena scientifically and teaches basic knowledge of education that can be applied to various fields. The Department of Education is often connected only to that of becoming a teacher. On the contrary, students can choose to pursue a variety of career paths. The aim of the department is to cultivate effective techniques and methods for broad educational practice based on academic understanding of education.

Therefore, students create their own curriculum after learning educational process and evaluation methods suitable for development and analyze the manner of educational psychology phenomenon in movies, novels and cartoons based on theories by educational psychologists. In addition, students will establish their own view of education through discussions on current education issues and lessons such as educational philosophy. Education majors must fulfill 60 hours of teaching services before graduation. Through this, they can gain experience as a future educator and have the opportunity to pursue theory and practice at the same time.

Highlights

Four Year Group Mentoring With Supervisor Professor
Hanyang University's Department of Education has implemented a four-year advisory program. In the program, students can designate a professor in their field of interest as their mentor and take part in group mentoring with classmates who have similar interests. This helps them to give shape to and set direction toward their career path.

Excellent Teaching Activities 
Hanyang Technical High School, as well as middle and high schools attached to the College of Educatio, provide excellent opportunities for educational experience and volunteer activities.

Five Affiliated Organizations and Institutes
The five affiliated organizations and institutes include the Institute of Educational Issues, Educational Technology Research Institute, Student Counseling Institute, Social Education Center, and the Middle and High School Training Center. The Institute of Educational Issues studies educational issues in the fields of educational history, philosophy, curriculum, educational administration, educational sociology, and educational psychology. Educational Technology Research Institute focuses on design and development of innovative educational programs of various areas ranging from school and industry education to military educational programs. The Student Counseling Institute deals with developing effective counseling skills through fundamental research on counseling. The Social Education Institute runs a liberal arts education program for the general public and a professional education program to improve qualities as a professional. The Middle and High School Training Center helps the development of middle and high school education.

This course aims to cultivate among students the comprehensive understanding of science and technology in modern society, employing philosophical methods and concepts. To do this, the course offers a survey of some important theoretical results recently obtained in science and technology studies. We will carefully examime a number of concrete case-studies, ranging from the electrification of America, quantum revolution to the introduction of western science to traditional Korea. We will then discuss the intrinsic nature of modern science and technology as well as its socio-cultural aspects in the context of modern society. Students who take the course shall appreciate how modern science and technology from the nineteenth century has come to manifest a number of unique characteristics, which can be clearly distinguished from the science and technology of even, the eighteenth century. We will discuss in the class the significance of this difference. The course will also highlights the importance of dialogue between experts with different background and encourage more interactions between humanities and natural sciences, so that we can make well-informed and reasonable decisions concerning complicated issues which are so common in our multi-layered society.
