Introduction

The name, 'Information Systems’ may mislead one to regard this major as a computer major. However, this department integrates the study of management with computer science. The aim is to gain knowledge of how to build, design and operate an information system to increase organizational productivity based on the knowledge gained from core courses in each discipline. Our students learn about how computers are used in an organization and how information resources can improve management performance.

Compared with computer science and electronic engineering majors, information technology is the broadest major, while electronic engineering is the narrowest with computer science in between the two majors. In this era when information technology permeates almost all aspects of our everyday lives, there is a growing demand for professionals with technical and analytical skills in IT as well as management skills. Majoring in information systems is not confined to any one specific area, but is highly interdisciplinary, allowing our graduates to enjoy a wide range of career opportunities in the IT field.
