On December 19th, the DongA Ilbo announced news about a large donation from Hwang Kyu-bin, the former chairman of Televideo (Department of Nuclear Engineering, '58). Former chairman Hwang signed a contract to donate 2 million dollars (Approximately 23 billion, 45 million won) to his alma mater, Hanyang University, to be used toward the construction of the Electronic Building. He created the first network system of personal computers (PCs) for the first time in the world, during the 1980s. He also established Televideo, which was the first Korean-based company to be listed on the U.S. NASDAQ.
The Korea Economic Daily also delivered the same news about the donation made by former chairman Hwang.
