On August 31, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it will expand the project to train technical management professionals (Project to train professionals in convergence technology commercialization). From this year, a total of 11 graduate schools receive a total of 25 billion won for five years.
This project is a program to train master and doctorate experts who apply and commercialize new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data into manufacturing industries.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Energy, there are 7 technical graduate schools: Hanyang University, Korea University, Pukyong National University, Sogang University, Sungkyunkwan University, Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology and Hoseo University. For graduate schools, there are 4 general graduate schools: Kyungpook National University, Kyungsang National University, Chungbuk National University, and Chonbuk National University. Gyeongsang National University and Chonbuk National University were newly added into the project.
Gyeongsang National University and Chonbuk National University, which have been newly selected, plan to intensively train working individual through industry-academic cooperation projects in cooperation with regional specialized industries.
Management of Technology (MOT) completed the professional training project,phase 1, and is planning to carry out phase 2 from this year. The "project to train professionals in convergence technology commercialization" will provide 25 billion won to 11 graduate schools for five years, from this year to 2024.
Meanwhile, Hanyang University's Graduate School of Technology & Innovation Management has selected and educated 55 master's and doctorate degree students every year since 2011 with the aim to foster "creative and innovative talents with change-driven leadership and practical solutions." Hanyang University has the largest number of full-time faculty (14) out of 20 graduate schools in Korea that have opened related degree courses, and also has a large number (11) of competent industry-related faculty members, leading domestic technology management education and research. Hanyang University operates a systematic education programs by dividing tecnology management into 3 parts: Technology Innovation, Technology Design and Technology Commercialization. To be on par with the 4th Industrial Revolution and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Hanyang University has been training technology executives who will lead artificial intelligence and data science through the D.MOT (Digital & Data Driven MOT) initiative from 2018.
