Hanyang University announced that three products will receive an Innovation Award at the Consumer Technology Show (CES) 2020, the world's largest electronics and information technology exhibition, which will be held in Las Vegas next January. Hanyang University will have won the Innovation Award for two consecutive years following CES 2019.

The winners of the innovation award are △Pragrant, an Electronic Deodorant Device Using Bio-plasma Technology, △PLACA, Curtain Disinfection System with Air Purifier, and △Smart Cane for the Blind with Independent Power Technology. These products have been commercialized and presented at the exhibition by Hanyang University’s Industry-University-Research Cooperation Foundation.

Pragrant is a bio-plasma and plasma medical technology that sterilizes bacteria and helps manage unpleasant odors in the body. PLACA is a special curtain designed to remove harmful substances such as bacteria and bacteria using plasma technology. This is especially useful in sensitive areas such as hospitals. These two products are distinguished by the development of ideas from the field with professor Lim Tae-ho’s participation (Department of Emergency Medicine).

The smart walking stick was developed by Sung Tae-hyun, a professor in the Division of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering, and used independent energy production technology. The infrared sensor on the stick works by detecting obstacles and alerting the user with vibration or sound. It is also equipped with a GPS navigation module to check its location. Moreover, it is equipped with various functions necessary for the visually impaired, such as alerting people of danger through LED effects. It is more meaningful as a product containing the spirit of 'Social Innovation' of the university to make society a better place.

On the other hand, the Innovation Award given by CES is awarded to innovative products by comprehensively evaluating design, technology, and consumer values in 30 fields including household appliances. Hanyang University received two innovation awards at CES 2019 earlier this year. The two consecutive awards recognized Hanyang University's technology and products overseas. Also, Hanyang University's Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation has established 'D Lab' to support the commercialization of the technology.
