[Performance]Hanyang Ranked 5th in '2019 QS Graduate Employability Rankings'

Hanyang University ranked 121-130th worldwide in the '2019 QS Graduate Employability Rankings' announced on September 11, by QS(Quacquarelli Symonds), a British agency that conducts university evaluations. It has significant rised from 201st in 2017, to 201~250th in 2018 to 121~130th for the year of 2019. ▲2019 QS Graduate Employability Rankings Domestic University Ranking (Source: QS) This year's QS Graduate Employability Rankings was ranked by evaluating five indicators of the 666 universities in the world. The five indicators are: ▲ Employer reputation (30%) ▲ Partnership with employers (25%) ▲ Alumni outcomes (25%) ▲ Partnership with employers (10%) ▲ Graduate employment rate, were found that Hanyang University was highly evaluated evenly on the five indicators. The highest ranking among domestic universities was found by Seoul National University (23rd). [Performance]Hanyang Ranked in the Top 201-300 in Academic Ranking of World Universities 2018

Hanyang University recently ranked in the top 201-300 according to the "Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)", which was recently announced by Shanghai Jiaotong University in Shanghai, China. Hanyang has ranked 3rd among domestic universities. The ARWU rankings are based on the Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals (30%), Highly cited researchers (20%), Papers published in Nature and Science (20%), the Papers indexed in Science Citation Index-expanded and Social Science Citation Index (20%), and Per capita academic performance of an institution(10%). For each indicator, 100 points were awarded to the highest scoring university, and the other institutions were given a percentage of the highest score. Among the top universities in Korea, Seoul University ranked in the top 101-150. It was followed by Sungkyunkwan University (151-200), Hanyang University, KAIST, Korea University (201-300), Kyunghee University, UNIST, Yonsei University (301-400) and POSTECH and Ulsan University (401-500) . Harvard University in the United States ranked first in the world. Harvard has been number one for 16 years. Stanford and Cambridge placed second and third, respectively. In addition, MIT, Berkeley, Princeton, Oxford, Colombia, Caltech, and Chicago made up the top ten schools. The ARWU rankings have been announced annually since 2003 by the Shanghai Jiaotong University and include all Nobel Prize winners, Fields winners, Highly Cited Researchers (HCR), and all universities with papers published in Nature Science. This includes colleges with a large number of theses in the Science Citation Index (SCIE) and the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). Last year, the list of 800 universities was released, but this year it was expanded to 1000 universities.

[Performance]ERICA Campus College of Business and Economics Acquired AACSB International Certificate

▲ AACSB officials, President Lee Young-moo and members of Hanyang University visited ERICA campus ERICA Campus College of Business and Economics recently acquired international certificate for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business(AACSB). The AACSB is recognized as the highest quality certification in business education, as only about 5% of the more than 16,000 business schools worldwide have acquired it. It has established 15 international standards, including research, education, budget and administration, and is awarding accreditation to universities that meet all the criteria. To meet these standards, universities must strive to achieve their vision and mission, continue to innovate, and produce results. Stephenie M. Bryant, head of AACSB Headquarters, said, "ERICA Campus College of Business and Economics has demonstrated excellence in all areas of education, research, curriculum development and student learning. I congratulate university headquarters, professors, administration teams and students who have provided their continuous support." The college received a due diligence on the final stage of the AACSB certification at the end of May this year. [Performance]Selection of Hanyang University's 4th Industrial Revolution Leader Training Institute

Hanyang University has been selected as the Fourth Industrial Revolution Training Center in 2018. On July 4th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that 20 training courses from 12 training institutions will participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution Training program in 2018. The newly selected training center will run 20 training courses (501 people) in six areas including big data, on Hanyang University, Seoul National University, Suwon University, and multi-campus campuses. Hanyang will run the "Big Data analysis specialist course based on machine learning based on IoT application." Meanwhile, the newly selected training institutions, including Hanyang University, will start recruiting trainees in July and begin their training in August at the earliest. The detailed schedule will be announced through the Job Skills Development Network.

[Performance]Among the top 100 companies, six CEOs are from Hanyang University

Hanyang University ranked fourth in number of CEO executives in the top 100 companies in Korea. In May, Hyundai Management analyzed the age and educational background of 123 CEOs, excluding foreign CEOs, among the top 100 companies (excluding financial, insurance, and public corporations). The results showed that Hanyang University has produced six CEOs, ranking 4th among major universities in Korea. Seoul National University had the largest number of CEOs (29, 23.6%), followed by Korea University (22, 17.9%), Yonsei University (17, 13.8%), Hanyang University (6, 4.9%), and Sungkyunkwan University (5, 4.1%). [Performance]Hanyang University Ranks 151st in 2018 QS World University Rankings

Hanyang University was ranked 151st, up four notches from last year in the 2018 World University Evaluation, announced on June 7th by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a British agency that conducts university evaluations. Hanyang University has been on the rise for the past nine years, from 354th in 2010, to 219th in 2014, 193rd in 2015, 171st in 2016, and 155th in 2017. This year, QS World University ranked 4,848 universities in 85 countries by evaluating the four fields of research, education, graduates, and globalization. There were six indicators: ▲ Employer Reputation (score 40%), ▲ Citations per Faculty (20%), ▲ Faculty Student Ratio (20%), ▲Employer Reputation (10%), and ▲ International Faculty (5%,), ▲ International Students (5%). Among the six evaluation criteria, Hanyang University acheived the best results in the catogories of ▲Employer Reputation (103rd) and ▲Faculty Student Ratio (155th). The other rankings were as follows: ▲Academic Reputation (178th), ▲International Students (370th), ▲Citations per Faculty (421st), and ▲International Faculty (470th). The highest ranked among Korean universities was Seoul National University (36th). It was followed by ▲KAIST (40th), ▲POSTECH (83rd), ▲Korea University (86th), ▲Sungkyunkwan University (100th), ▲Yonsei University (107th), ▲Hanyang University (151st), ▲Kyunghee University (264th), ▲GIST (315th), ▲Ewha Womans University (319th), ▲Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (397th), and ▲ Chung Ang University (397th), along with 12 other domestic universities ranked among the top 400 in the world. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranked first in the world after also achieving first place last year. Stanford University came in second, Harvard University third, California Institute of Technology (Caltech) fourth, and Oxford University and Cambridge University tied for fifth place. According to a June 7th article by the Chosun Ilbo, "Universities that are strong in science and technology, not only in Korea but around the world, also have a favorable trend in evaluation rankings." [Performance]Hanyang University ranked third in number of CEOs in KOSDAQ listed company

Hanyang University ranked third place in number of CEOs of KOSDAQ listed company. On May 23, the KOSDAQ-Listed Companies Association surveyed and compiled statistics of 1,550 CEOs' major, age, and gender in 1,269 KOSDAQ-listed companies. Among the CEOs of KOSDAQ-listed companies, 300 (19.4%) of them are graduates of Seoul National University, 160 (10.3%) are from Yonsei University, 126 (8.1%) are from Hanyang University, and 109 (7.0%) from Korea University. By majors, 723 CEOs(46.6%) majored in Science and Technology, 578 of them (37.3%) in Business, 137 (8.8%) in Social Sciences. The CEO's average age was 55.7, and there are 43 female CEOs (2.8 %) while 1,507 of them are male (97.2 %).

[Performance]Hanyang Ranks 4th in Number of CEO Alumni in Top 100 Korean Companies

According to a survey conducted by the recruitment site Saramin, among 92 CEOs of the top 100 Korean companies (excluding financial institutions) four of them are Hanyang University graduates. Among 92 CEOs, 13 of them are from Seoul National University (14.1%), 11 from Korea and Yonsei University respectively (11.9%), 4 from Hanyang University (4.3%), 3 from KAIST and George Washington Univeristy (3.2%), 2 from Kyunghee ,Pusan National, Chung-Ang, Chungnam National, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, USC, Stanford , and Columbia University respectively (2.1%). By location, 50 CEOs are from universities in Seoul (54.3%), followed by 29 from foreign universities (31.5%), 11 from universities in provinces (11.9%), and 2 from universities in metropolitan areas (2.17%)

[Performance]Selected for Excellence in University Evaluation on the Perspective of Industry

In "2017 Evaluation of University Education on the Perspective of Industry (산업계관점 대학평가)," announced by the Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education on April 18, Hanyang University participated in four out of the five fields and selected for ‘excellence’ in three fields including software, electronic semiconductor, refining and petrochemical. To apply the demand of the industry to the curriculum, Evaluation of University Education on the Perspective of Industry enables head of the industrial division to propose key competences and related subjects in each field, evaluate the level of cohesiveness with the curriculum, and provide information. Korean Council for University Education has been organizing this evaluation since 2008 in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and five economic organizations. This year's university evaluation was conducted for five departments of software, electronics, semiconductors, information communication, refining & petrochemical and cosmetics and 160 departments of 75 universities who wanted to participate became subject of this evaluation. 44 departments of 31 universities were selected as the ‘best’ category. 2027 companies, executives and staff members of 39 companies including Kakao, LG Electronics, and COSON and university assessment experts participated in this survey. In the field of software, 16 universities including Hanyang, Gachon, Konkuk, Kyungnam, Kyungsung, Kyungil, Gwangju, Dongseo, Dong-Eui, Sogang, Sunmun, Sookmyung Women's, Soongsil university received the best rating. The best universities in the field of electronic semiconductors are 11 universities including Hanyang, Kangwon, Kyungnam, Kookmin, Gunsan, Sogang, Sungkyunkwan, Soonchunhyang, Soongsil, Chungbuk, Honam University, and in refining & petrochemical fields, Hanyang, Kangwon, Konkuk, Soongsil, Yeungnam, Inha, Chonbuk University were selected. Major in Software, Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering of Hanyang University were evaluated that they reflect the opinions of the industry from the stage of designing and operating an industry-based curriculum to the performance inspection process, and provide the best education courses the industry wants, thus selected for the ‘best’ category in three fields of software, electronic semiconductor, refining and petrochemical. [Performance]ERICA Campus Named "4th Industrial Revolution Innovative University"

ERICA Campus of Hanyang University was selected as the "4th Industrial Revolution Innovative University" (hereafter refered to as "Leading Innovative University") by the Ministry of Education. The Leading Innovative University Project, which was launched for the first time this year, received applications from LINC+ universities and 10 selected universities including Hanyang. ERICA will receive annual funding in the amount of 1 billion KRW and plans to cultivate practical talents in the field of cooperative robots with artificial intelligence by building a multi-disciplinary innovation education model (Collaborative AI-Robotics in Engineering). Kim Young-gon, direct general for vocational education at the Ministry of Education, said, "I hope that the 10 selected leading innovative universities will become the main players in creating a sustainable innovation ecosystem of university based on cooperation with local communities and prospective businesses." Meanwhile, the final 10 selected universities were Kangwon National University, Kookmin University, Dankook University, Pukyong University, Jeonju University, Korea Technology Education University, Korea Industrial Technology University, Hanbat National University, and Honam University, and the ERICA campus of Hanyang University.

[Performance]Paiknam Academic Information Center & Library Wins Korea Library Award

▲Paiknam Academic Information Center & Library received the first ever Korean library award at the 50th Korea Library Awards on February 22nd On February 22, the director of the Paiknam library Eom Ik-sang won the grand prize at the 50th Korea Library Awards. Hanyang was the sole recipient among the other universities. The Korean Library Awards is given by the Korean Library Association for selecting organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of libraries nationwide. Paiknam library was recognized for its efforts on 'innovation' by remodeling libraries for user convenience and sharing their performances at seminars. ▲ Director Eom receiving the prize "I am very pleased to receive a meaningful prize in the year of the 70th anniversary of the opening of Hanyang University Library," said Professor Eom at the Department of Chinese Language & Literature. He added "We will do our best to contribute to other universities by making the Paiknam Academic Information Center a model of the nation`s university library."

[Performance]Hanyang University employment rate at 72.7%, ranking in the top 3

The employment rate of graduates at Hanyang University is the third highest among the major universities. According to the Jongro Academy Haneul Education, which analyzed the employment rate of 194 universities in 2016 (graduates from August 2015 and February 2016) by using the government education statistics service on Jan. 19, Hanyang University had an increase of 4 points bringing it to a total of 72.7%, ranking third among the 42 largest universities with more than 3,000 graduates. Sungkyunkwan University ranked first at 76.4%. The following universities comprise ranks 2 through 10 in the top 10 universities by employment rate, respectively: Korea University (73.8%), Hanyang University (72.7%), Seoul National University (70.6%), Yonsei University (70.1%), Soongsil University (69.0%), Inha University (68.3%), Dongguk University (68.2%), Gachon University (68.1%), and Chung Ang University (67.6%). According to the employment rate by departments, the Medical Department was the highest at 83.9%, followed by Engineering (69.4%), Social Studies (62.9%), Art, Music and Physical Studies (62.5%), Nature (60.7%), and Humanities (57.5%). The average employment rate for all universities was 67.7%, up 0.2 percent from the previous year (67.5%). According to a news article from the Korea Times on February 19th, Oh Jong-woon, the director of Haneul Education at the Jongno Academy, said, "Despite the recent drop in the number of unemployed college graduates last month from 7,000 last year, it will still be difficult to solve the unemployment problem for youths unless a dramatic employment stabilization policy comes out."
