In furtherance of upholding its founding philosophy of ‘Love in Deed and Truth’, Hanyang University has produced intelligent and creative graduates who adhere to the principles of diligence, honesty, humility and service, focused on research of the highest global caliber, and actively participated in a variety of social services.

During the past 80 years, Hanyang University has played a pivotal role in the economic and social development of Korea. More recently, Hanyang has prepared for the rapidly changing environment both domestically and overseas by aiming to establish itself as an institution of more respectable professionalism and rationalism. Therefore, Hanyang pledges to conform to society’s requirements and expectations by upholding this highest ethical and moral standards.

Faculty’s Code

By adhering to the University’s founding philosophy of ‘Love in Deeds’, Hanyang’s faculty strive to contribute to the prosperity of humanity by producing successful and responsible graduates who seek knowledge and truth.

  • First,

    professors must respect and acknowledge the variety of students’ characters. They are expected to guide students to cultivate intelligent capacity and moral judgment required in society.

  • Second,

    professors will abide by proper methods of research and be responsible for the results that ensue from them. Professors will respect the study and research of colleagues and fairly evaluate their work.

  • Third,

    professors will proactively use their field of expertise and research findings for social services, and, thereby, contribute to the furtherance of country and humanity as a whole.

  • Fourth,

    professors will maintain the formality and dignity of an educator, maintain fairness and ethics, and will not use unjust means to seek personal profit.

  • Fifth,

    professors will adhere to the University’s regulations and actively cooperate with academic administration for the effective and fluid operating of the institution.

Staffs’ Code

    as administrative professionals, Hanyang’s staff have pride and a strong sense of commitment as they strive to develop their individual areas of responsibilities and produce excellent results.

  • Second,

    staff members adhere to the regulations, rules, and codes in carrying out their responsibilities while dealing with all Hanyang members in a dignified manner.

  • Third,

    staff members strive to complete their duties fairly and quickly while maintaining courtesy and being helpful when dealing with professors, students, or their parents

  • Fourth,

    staff members do not seek personal profits in connection with their work nor do they use personal or security information for unlawful gain.

  • Fifth,

    staff members maintain excellence in conduct at all times, thus, helping to elevate the reputation of Hanyang University.

Students’ Code

By adhering to the University’s founding philosophy of ‘Love in Deeds’, Hanyang’s students work tirelessly on self-development to qualify themselves as individuals of culture, professionalism, practicality, globalism, and to serve others. This will contribute to the development of local, domestic, and global society.

  • First,

    students will work hard in their studies and develop respectable characteristics that will help them on the path to future success.

  • Second,

    students will respect the personality and rights of others, including their differences in religions, ideas, and culture.. Prejudice and intolerance is unacceptable.

  • Third,

    students will not use any unethical practices during their studies, but allow their conscience and morals to measure their actions.

  • Fourth,

    students will respect professors and staff members by treating everyone politely and with dignity. They will show proper respect for the University’s facilities as well.

  • Fifth,

    students will proactively and proudly participate in University activities both inside and outside the institution, and, thus, promote Hanyang’s reputation.
